Srinagar, May 01 (KNO): National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday termed Pakistan as a failed state and said that the country wanted to divert attention from its failure through the Pahalgam terror attack. Talking to the reporters here, Dr Farooq, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that both the countries (India and Pakistan) are preparing the ground for war. However, he said that the efforts are being made to de-escalate the tensions by the world and nab the attackers involved in the attack. “God knows how much the world will succeed in it,” he added. The NC patron also said that Pakistan is a failed state and instead of improving the situation within the country, it has been trying to divert the attention from this main issue through the attack and its consequences will be dangerous. “Both the countries have atomic power and if it (atomic power) is used, God knows what will happen,” he said. The ex-chief minister of erstwhile J&K State, further added that the tensions are there, but he doesn't know whether war was the last option. “It is up to the leaders of the two nations to decide on it,” he added. Replying to a query, Dr Farooq said that “I don't think relations between India and Pakistan will ever improve unless the Army goes. People of Pakistan want friendship with India, but not the hierarchy there. The peace between India and Pakistan can only happen when there will be a people's government in Pakistan,” he said. Reacting to the cabinet decision on caste census, Dr Farooq said it was the long pending demand and it is imperative to come up with the number of Muslims, Sikhs, Brahmans, Christians and others living in India—(KNO)
